Backed by Virginia’s Democratic Party establishment, state Sen. Donald McEachin of Henrico County easily won a primary Tuesday for nomination in the 4th Congressional District, according to unofficial results. He defeated Chesapeake City Councilwoman Ella Ward.
State Sen. Donald McEachin is a Democrat running for the nomination in Virginia’s 4th Congressional District. He stopped by WTVR to discuss jobs, wages, Medicare, and Social Security.
The Henrico County Democrat is seeking the Democratic nomination to represent Virginia’s 4th Congressional District, which stretches from the Richmond suburbs to Hampton Roads.
McEachin said he would fight for economic justice and fair wages, equality for the LGBT community, improved public schools that prepare children for higher education, and would protect Medicare and Social Security for seniors.
“As I said all along I’m very interested in the fourth congressional seat, but right now I’m busy doing the people’s business here at the General Assembly,” McEachin said through a spokeswoman. “I will have a lot more to say about Congress right after we adjourn.”
